Just a short break for a few days primarily to visit family in Staines but taking in an overnight stay in London.
We flew with British Airways to London City Airport on the first flight, arriving at 8.05am. This gave us the whole day in London.
We had registered our credit cards on the Transport for London app which enabled us to use them contactless, like Oyster cards on all transport. It took us about 45 minutes to traverse across the city to the Staybridge Suites in Vauxhall using Docklands Light Railway and the Tube.
After dropping off our bags we headed to the shops in Oxford Street then spent the rest of the day travelling round taking in Leicester Square, Covent Garden and Harrods. We enjoyed a drink in on the champagne terrace in Harrods before going for lunch in Zia Teresa, a restaurant which we last visited 25 years ago.

P

Pauline and I were fairly tired by mid afternoon so we headed back to the hotel for a rest and to freshen up for the evening.
In the evening we took in the West End show Dreamgirls at the Savoy Theatre. Before going to the show we had a peek in The Savoy Hotel.
After the show we decided to call it a night and headed back to the hotel.
I would recommend the Staybridge Suites for a short stay in London. The suites are well equipped with kitchens, full SkyTV, and are ideally located for access to all the attractions.
We spent the remainder of our break visiting my aunt and uncle in Staines upon Thames.
Wow some amazing scenery, your pictures show some fantastic London sights! Looks like you both had a great time, looking forward to catching up with you in February! In London…
